Bracelet Design for William J. Clinton Foundation Birthday Auction

In October, 2006, I was asked to design a gold bracelet commemorating The Honorable William Jefferson Clinton’s 60th birthday. My design features an abstraction of the West African, Akan culture's ‘Wawa Aba’ Adinkra symbol. This ‘seed of the wawa tree’–a source of hardwood for traditional carving–represents strength, perseverance and new beginnings. I also carved the number sixty into the bracelet. There are only two extant pieces, both in white gold. One was auctioned to benefit the William J. Clinton Foundation, at the former President’s birthday party held at the Museum of Natural History. I gifted the second one to Chelsea Clinton, co-chair of the auction.
