Dave Stevenson’s commissions include MONUMENTAL enlargements from his extant portfolio + COLLABORATIVE original design projects. Some examples:
Nautilus, monumental (private collection)
In 2014, Dave enlarged his original Nautilus sculpture from 22”h to a monumental scale of 8’h in bronze for a collector’s sprawling outdoor sculpture garden (St. Davids, Pennsylvania).
Sculpted logo for James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment
This stainless steel sculpture was created for filmmaker James Cameron's production company, Lightstorm Entertainment. Stevenson's 3D interpretation of the Lightstorm logo not only provided the basis of the animated version (Insight Pics/Venice Beach) seen at the head of such Lightstorm films as True Lies, Strange Days & Avatar: The Way of the Water, but also guards the entrance lobby of the company's California headquarters.
Acrobat, FMC Tower/Philadelphia, PA
Acrobat (bronze, 9'3”h, #1/3), was installed in June, 2019, at Cira Centre South/Schuykill Yards in Philadelphia, PA outside the stunning new FMC Tower (Pelli-Clarke-Pelli Architects). Purchased by Brandywine Realty Trust, a highlight of this setting is its proximity to Cira Green, a one-acre park 10 stories above the sculpture, accessible by a glass elevator.
TITANIC DVD release commemorative sculpture/pendant/lapel pin
Just inside the lobby of Lightstorm Entertainment, a stainless steel archer aims a lightning bolt at all who enter. This striking wall-relief was created in 1994 by sculptor Dave Stevenson, whose latest James Cameron inspired artwork is somewhat less forbidding. Docked at an elegant brass pedestal, Stevenson’s sterling silver ship doubles as both a neck pendant and lapel pin. Commissioned by acclaimed DVD producer/filmmaker Van Ling to commemorate the creation of Paramount/Fox's TITANIC: Special Collector's Edition DVD set, the limited edition sculpture was presented by Ling to 100 key participants–including scores of cast and crew members of Cameron's 1997 blockbuster–as a thank-you gift for their support and collaboration on the DVD project.
